			Actual Size's middling performance at the March NHRL event indicated that while some of the V3.1 changes had been successful, there were still outstanding design issues that needed to be remediated. The carbon fiber bottom plates, smaller "snowman nose" self righting pegs, and TPU-mounted weapon rails had all performed well. However, the method of mounting the weapon rails, which involved screwing the rails directly into Actual Size's TPU chassis and could only be accomplished with the robot almost entirely disassembled, proved prohibitively complex to service during a competition. Moreover, the geometry changes that had been made to the chassis to support this direct TPU mounting had inadvertently increased the flexibility of the chassis, making the whole robot sag noticeably. At the same time, a problem that had been lingering on Actual Size since the September 2025 V2 design became too obvious to ignore: the vulnerability of the exposed weapon motor and weapon gear. In both of Actual Size's March NHRL losses, it was damage to the weapon motor and weapon gear that proved fatal. It was clear that the chassis would need to be redesigned, with an emphasis in maintaining the durability gains of the V3.1 design while adding in extra protection for the weapon stack.

			Actual Size V4 marked another major evolution in Actual Size's design, with a number of new features that distinguished the robot from its predecessors. The V4 design saw the weapon motor inverted, with the weapon gear mounted to the motor can rather than the motor shaft. The inverted motor was fastened to a new weapon rail and protected by a TPU guard. The weapon rail was a crucial part of a new two-part chassis, with the weapon stack totally separate from the rest of the robot's electronics, allowing it to be rapidly swapped simply by unscrewing it from the chassis bottom plates. With easier serviceability and the same durability changes as V3.1, Actual Size V4 nailed all of its design goals and made its debut at the April 2025 NHRL event.

			Actual Size's opening matchup was against [[Twisted Sister]], a routine podium-placing horizontal robot out of Colorado. Unbeknownst to driver [[Max Morningstar]], ahead of the match the driver of [[Twisted Sister]] had sharpened the robot's weapon blades specifically to cut through Actual Size's TPU wheels.

			This proved to have immediate successful effect, with the opening exchanges between the two robots leading to one of Actual Size's wheels being cut nearly in half, with the dangling portion of the wheel then ingested by [[Twisted Sister]]'s weapon. Luckily, the wheel remained intact and was able to be removed without incident. As the match resumed, Actual Size's mobility was severely hampered by the damaged wheel. Nevertheless it put up a remarkable resistance, landing a number of hits and even roofing [[Twisted Sister]] before finally succumbing to its damage and tapping out, taking its first loss of the day and dropping to 0-1.

			Actual Size's Cusp matchup was against [[Lunatic]], a 4WD vertical eggbeater spinner from Team Defective's [[Zack Knight]]. While initially concerned that Zack would run a "Big-unatic" configuration like the "Big-heda" configuration for his 12lb robot [[Pramheda]], Zack assured Morningstar that [[Lunatic]] was his "for fun" robot and that he did not have anything special cooked up. As a result, Morningstar ran Actual Size in its normal configuration, cautiously optimistic that Actual Size's archetype advantage would give it the edge against the compact design of [[Lunatic]].

			The fight opened with multiple weapon-on-weapon engagements between the two robots. One of these was so violent that [[Lunatic]] roofed Actual Size, and when it landed Actual Size's weapon embedded itself in the arena floor. While trying to get unstuck, [[Lunatic]] was able to get up close to Actual Size and strike its weapon gear, shearing the weapon motor axle and ejecting the gear across the arena, disabling Actual Size's weapon for the remainder of the match. Without a weapon, Actual Size was forced to take hit after hit, and while both robots made it to the buzzer the result was an easy JD win for [[Lunatic]], dropping Actual Size to 1-1.

			Actual Size's matchup for its Bubble fight was [[Phil]], a 4WD vertical eggbeater spinner from Auburn University's Auburn Robotics Club. While [[Phil]] was on paper the idea bot archetype for Actual Size to fight, having just lost to Lunatic driver [[Max Morningstar]] was not going to take the matchup for granted.

			The fight was initially fairly even, but Actual Size soon gained the upper hand, ripping off a chunk of [[Phil]] and damaging its frame enough that it began to get high centered. While an unstick managed to get it moving again briefly, Actual Size soon had it stuck again and [[Phil]] tapped out, giving Actual Size its second win of the day and granting it a berth in the elimination bracket.

			Actual Size's first bracket match would be against [[Mad Gasher]], a hammersaw bot also from the Auburn Robotics Club. Actual Size was fitted with its brand new "hammerwall" configuration, with Morningstar planning to try and stay on top of [[Mad Gasher]] during the fight to hopefully sever the wires powering its weapon as fast as possible.

			While the hammerwalls worked excellently, blocking multiple hammersaw shots that would have otherwise struck vital electronics, during one exchange where Actual Size was on top of [[Mad Gasher]] the hammersaw was brought up under Actual Size and struck its weapon motor. For the remaining two minutes of the match Actual Size was powerless to damage [[Mad Gasher]], and despite doing its best to show aggression was handed a JD loss after finishing the match, eliminating it from the competition and ending its day at 2-2.

			Having been eliminated from the tournament, Morningstar was ready to pack up when he was approached by [[Seth Schaffer]] about doing a grudge match with [[Division V4]]. Initially hesitant (due to the disappointment of having been eliminated from the tournament so early), Morningstar eventually agreed to the match so that he could test out Actual Size's new "chin" configuration.

			===NHRL March 2026===
			With two successful competitions in the closing months of 2025, Actual Size designer [[Max Morningstar]] looked to make only minor improvements to Actual Size ahead of its 2026 debut. These changes were intended to try and make Actual Size even more damage resistant. Morningstar also wanted to add more configurations to Actual Size's arsenal, to make the robot more versatile against hammersaws and so-called "reach verts," robots with vertical spinning blades capable of striking Actual Size's chassis.

			The durability changes took three forms: first, the aluminum bottom plates (which had bent during the close JD win over [[Chaos Upright]] in the November 2025 NHRL event) were replaced with 2mm carbon fiber plates. Second, the chassis was modified so that the weapon rails could mount directly into the TPU instead of rigidly mounting to nutstrips (which had bent badly during the loss to [[Flashfreeze]] at the 2025 MIT House Battle). Third, the UHMW outriggers were doubled in thickness to 0.25", to make them less prone to being cut off or bent into Actual Size's wheels. For configurations, Morningstar designed spring steel plates ("hammerwalls") that would mount to the front of Actual Size if it faced an overhead attack opponent. Morningstar also designed L-shaped UHMW pieces ("chins") that could be affixed to the front and bottom of Actual Size in case it fought opponents capable of hitting its chassis directly. To make weight with these added configurations, Morningstar dramatically shrank the length of the "snowman nose" self righting pegs on Actual Size's wheels. While initially intending the resulting robot to be Actual Size V4, Morningstar later anointed it V3.1 due to the similarity in overall profile to its immediate predecessor.

			====Actual Size vs [[Torcher]]====
			Actual Size's first opponent of the day was [[Torcher]], from the Carnegie Mellon Combat Robotics team. Torcher was also a bigwheel robot, but with a flamethrower instead of a spinning weapon. In response, Actual Size donned gold foil tape and special metal wheels, originally designed for use on Actual Size's V1 design in June 2025.

			The fight was largely one-sided. Before even reaching its corner, it became clear that Torcher was suffering some serious drive issues. This was due to a handful of factors: the robots wheels were too thin and tended to buckle under the robot's weight, its outriggers were also too thin and allowed the chassis to rotate around its wheels, and the belts connecting the wheel motors to the wheel axle were mounted in TPU which caused one of the drive belts to slip off almost immediately. Once the fight started, Actual Size raced over and quickly damaged one of Torcher's wheels, causing it to slump over and stop moving. Actual Size took its first win of the day by KO in less than a minute.

			After the fight, driver [[Max Morningstar]] talked extensively with the Carnegie Mellon team about their design. He gave them a set of spare outriggers from Actual Size to run in their second round match, and recommended they switch to an aluminum plate for their wheel motor to axle connection, a lesson Morningstar had also learned the hard way on [[Jot]] in the June 2024 event. Morningstar really loved the idea of a bigwheel flamethrower, a design he had thought about but never seriously pursued, and was blown away that [[Torcher]] used a custom-made tank to hold its fuel. Morningstar expressed that he thought the design had a lot of promise, and eagerly looked forward to seeing the team compete again in the future.
