The championships for the NHRL 2022 season will be held on December 17th. This is going to be the 7th event in our 2021 season and consists entirely of invite-only brackets. In the first 6 events of our seasons, the top 4 bots in each bracket who did not already qualify for the championships get an invite.
During the championships we will be fighting all full-combat weight classes and will be giving out a total of $50,000 dollars in cash prizes! These robots have proven their abilities during the regular season and we are looking to see how each robot will fair when put up against their most challenging competitors yet.
Prizes
Weight Class | Championship Winner | Championship Runner Up |
---|---|---|
3lb | $10,000 USD | $4,000 USD |
12lb | $12,000 USD | $4,000 USD |
30lb | $15,000 USD | $5,000 USD |
First-place in 3lb, 12lb, and 30lb at each event also gets a custom finals trophy
Brackets
Here are the brackets for our December 17th 2022 Championships!

Prediction Challenge
We are giving prizes to people who correctly predict the 3lb, 12lb, or 30lb brackets! The person who has the highest score for each of those three brackets wins $300.
Your methodology is entirely up to you, whether that's taking a deep dive into the statistics, flipping a coin, or having your bot make your picks for you. Then, sit back and watch the madness unfold as you revel in victory, or witness your bracket get busted before the end of the tournament.
As the battles progress, you’ll get points for every winner you picked correctly. Points will increase linearly every round; for example, the first round is worth 1, second round is worth 2, and so on. At the end of the tournament, the player with the most points wins that group.
Predictions are not available for the 30lb Sportsman bracket.
How to enter
Entering the contest is simple: just fill out this form, and then click on any of the brackets above and start making predictions. You only need to fill out the form once, regardless of how many of the brackets you predict.
Only participants who fill out the form are eligible to win the $300 prize for each bracket. If the form tells you you're ineligible to win the prize, you're still welcome to make predictions. You'll be playing for bragging rights instead!
Note that any crew working the event or builders participating in the event, and their immediate family members, are ineligible for this prize. You must be 18 or over, and live in the US.
We have full details for the contest here.
Best of luck!
Charity
As part of NHRL's charity initiative, we are giving away $1 million to charities that our qualifying builders select.
Each qualifying builder will select one charity that will get $5,000. The three builders who win their weight classes will see those donations increased to $250,000.

Grudge Fights
If your bot did not qualify for the Championships, we invite you to come anyway and fight in some grudge fights!
Grudge registration is only open for 3lb and 12lb Sportsman bots. These grudge fights will happen in Cages 5 and 6. We need to manage pit table space, so we have a loose cap of about 32 bots who have not qualified, and a limit of 2 bots per builder.
See the list of signed-up bots here
Qualified Robots
The following robots qualified for the championships in 2021. Qualifying means finishing in the final 4 for your weight class of all bots that have not already qualified in any of the 6 regular season events. In the event of a tie or a duplicate both bots will be admitted. You cannot qualify more than once.
Any bots who are not coming will be noted like this.

What to expect at NHRL
Whether you attend NHRL as a competitor or as a spectator, it's an unforgettable experience! Here's what to expect.
We have six cages where robot fights happen, in two different areas!
One area is the Steel Arena, which contains Cages 1 and 4, for 12lb and 30lb bots, and Cages 2 and 3, for 3lb bots.
Another area is the Titanium Stage, which contains Cages 5 and 6, both for 3lb bots.
Each area generally gets its own stream on event day, with dedicated announcers.
If you're a spectator with VIP tickets, you can get a special, close-up view of both areas. You can also relax in our dedicated VIP lounge, with drinks and some soft sofas. And, you can go on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of NHRL!
We have a bunch of other great things that all our spectators can check out.
- Our Bot Museum, with notable bots you may have seen on TV.
- An outdoor patio, with plenty of food trucks with delicious offerings.
- The Brett Experience, where you can try your hand at driving Brett the Brick.
- The Sparky Store, where you can buy souvenirs like t-shirts and stickers.
- A sign-making station, where you can support your favorite competitors.
Spectator tickets run as low as $10. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian 18 or over. Children 4 and under get in free.
If you're a competitor, you're in for a treat! We welcome competitors of all backgrounds and skill levels. Here's what you can expect...
- An enormous pit area on the second floor.
- A large workshop filled with all sorts of tools to help fix your bot.
- An amazing, supportive, and helpful community.
- No registration fees! (There is a $25 per-bot deposit that's refunded after you attend the event.)
- The best competition in the world!

All NHRL events are open to public spectators. Adults and children over the age of 4 can purchase an all-day access pass for $10. This will give access to all of the spectating areas around all the fighting cages, as well as the spectator lounges, Bot Museum, and other fun combat robotics attractions. Spectators under the age of 4 are admitted for free. Any spectator under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18.
Also, look for our VIP tickets, where you can relax in our lounge, experience our fights close-up, and go on a behind-the-scenes tour!
Read more about our spectator experience.
Competing at NHRL
Our December Championships are invite-only. In order to compete, you must qualify at an event earlier in the year by being one of the top 4 bots in your bracket not already qualified.
We will announce plans for grudge fights at this event soon!
