Frankenstein is a 12-pound robot built by NURC member Kevin Beck. This robot uses the weapon from the NURC featherweight Juan that participated in November 2021 and recorded NURC's first-ever NHRL fight victory. Club president Will Phillips, upon realizing that Juan was not salvageable, gave Beck the idea to build a hobbyweight around the weapon of Juan. Following NURC's famous "J" tradition, Beck originally named the robot "Justin", but upon the ascension of featherweights George and DeathPact, decided on the name "Frankenstein".

To accommodate the larger weapon from a featherweight, a 1.5-pound minibot ("Young Frankenstein") was used, driven by Kevin's father, Kenneth, who served as project manager.

Frankenstein is entered in an unofficial joint-venture between NURC and Beck's internship employer and sponsor Flashcut CNC, whose president and owner Ron Worth aided Beck and his team in constructing the robot.
