ProtoStorm was the first unique solo build by Jamie Reilly, and eventually the test platform for is successor Razor Storm. It fought from 2019-2020 and is in permanent retirement. It was almost entirely hand-crafted.

• ProtoStorm v1:
  • ProtoStorm v1.1: ProtoStorm began as a vertical bar spinner with a 6" diameter. It was made of a random steel bar from Home Depot. The bot was handmade from polycarbonate, UHMW, and aluminum front armor. This first version had completely exposed sides and could barely move. It lost its weapon belt quickly in combat. It was modeled after the bot Electric Boogaloo from RoboGames. It debuted at NHRL August 2019. This bot was reverse engineered from the kitbot Scrambler and used the same internals.
• ProtoStorm v2: This bot's chassis was shrunk over time as space management improved. It used many of the same pieces slightly cut down, a process that continued into the evolution of Razor Storm v1.
  • ProtoStorm v2.1: The new ProtoStorm was a total rebuild. The chassis was made of joined UHMW pieces with UHMW wrap-around shields. New additions were a custom 4.5" diameter symmetrical AR500 steel blade, a self-righting arm powered by a servo, and two fixed aluminum wedgelets.
  • ProtoStorm v2.2: For the next revision, the lifter's connection to the servo was strengthened, and the front weapon pulley was changed to a custom one 3D printed of Nylon. This improved reliability of both systems. Garolite was used for this version's top plate.
