NHRL x Open Sauce 2023
NHRL will be running combat robotics at the Open Sauce event in San Francisco, CA on July 15 and 16.
Open Sauce is a gathering of makers and creators. From their website: "Attendees will explore interactive exhibits, get an up-close look at the latest in maker technology, attend talks, panels, and small workshops with top creators on YouTube."
Our Open Sauce appearance will be different from a regular NHRL event. Note that future remote NHRL appearances will not necessarily share these differences, and will likely be more like our regular Norwalk tournaments.
• Our Open Sauce appearance will not be a tournament. There will be no bracket and no overall winner. Our fights will all effectively be exhibition fights. The idea is to show Open Sauce how amazing combat robotics is, with a steady flow of excellent fights.
• This event will not be livestreamed. We will have our social media crew capturing footage, but there likely will be no official fight footage coming out of this.
• If you’d like to fight robots at Open Sauce, you will need to apply, not register. This is because of the limited number of spots we have, combined with our need to have a steady flow of entertaining fights.
• Applications will be for 3lb and 12lb bots. We will not be fighting 30lb bots. However, we may be able to feature a few 30lb bots in a demo, and we may even fight a few 1lb bots. If you’d be interested in this, email gil@nhrl.io.
• We will announce the OpenSauce fighting lineup on Friday, June 30 sometime in the afternoon EDT.
Again, future events outside Norwalk will not necessarily have these characteristics. This is more about specific constraints we have at a show like Open Sauce than it is running a remote event.
